UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay focuses on education as she marks her first United Nations General Assembly, on the occasion of the 73rd Session 21 September 2018

Audrey Azoulay will highlight UNESCO’s leadership in promoting inclusive and quality education when she attends her first UN General Assembly in New York as Director General, from 23 to 26 September. In addition, the Director-General will represent the United Nations Secretary-General at the High-Level Global Business Coalition for Education Breakfast in the presence of representatives of civil society, private sector leaders, and governmental and non-governmental actors.

Launch event for the co-publication "Transforming the Future: Anticipation in the 21st Century"

The new UNESCO-Routledge co-publication “Transforming the Future: Anticipation in the 21st Century” will be launched with co-sponsorship of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the International Organisation of La Francophonie (IOF) and the International Science Council. Book launch and conference celebrating ReACH (Reproduction of Art and Cultural Heritage)

The event is organised by the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) with UNESCO and the Permanent Delegation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to UNESCO. It will bring together key practitioners and experts who developed a 21st century version of the 1867 Convention, the ReACH Declaration, which has been signed by a cohort of leaders in the museums and heritage sector.

23rd session of the Intergovernmental Council of the International Hydrological Programme of UNESCO

The IHP Council is responsible for the planning, defining priorities and supervising the execution of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP). The Council is composed of 36 Member States of UNESCO elected by the General Conference of UNESCO at its ordinary sessions, held every two years. Equitable geographical distribution and appropriate rotation of the representatives of the Member States are ensured in the composition of the Council.

Supporting the development of National Education in Syria - Second training workshop!!!

Based on the successes achieved in the second educational opportunity program in terms of access to students in need of educational support and wide geographic coverage of the program, UNESCO decided to continue their support for the 2017-2018 academic year. Therefore, it is envisioned the need to launch the second TOT, to train key trainers from the various governorates targeted for the program, which will begin in the summer of 2018 and to continue in 2019.

Africa and World Heritage
